Community-Based Program

This program pairs adult volunteers with children (5 – 16 years of age) to make a match. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle. Volunteers are expected to make a one-year minimum commitment. The volunteer, Big, picks up his/her/their Little at their home and takes them to do something free or low cost in the community four times a month. Matches are supported by a Case Manager.

Site-Based Program

Currently, there is programming in two State College Area School District elementary schools. One meets on Mondays from 3-5pm and one meets on Tuesdays from 3-5pm. Matches meet weekly throughout the school year. A staff member is always on site. We are always looking to expand to other schools or sites (churches, workplaces, etc.). Please reach out to Program Director, Rebecca Lord, if you are interested in potentially piloting a program at your site.

High School Bigs Program

Bellefonte Area High School students act as the Bigs to elementary school Littles. The high school Bigs are bused to an elementary school every other week to meet with their Littles. These meetings take place during the school day. Matches are supported by a Case Manager who is always on site. We would love to pilot this program in every school district in Centre County as it benefits both the elementary school students and the high school students. Please contact Program Director, Rebecca Lord, if you are interested in exploring this program.
